The Hitmen Premier team began the season on a five-game winning streak and lost consecutive games only once and finished the regular season with sixteen straight wins, not losing a game after January 4. Their 44-4-2 record earned them the regular season title and they swept their playoff series with the Rochester Jr. Americans, South Shore Kings, and Philadelphia Flyers to capture the Dineen Cup after falling in the finals the previous year. The team produced fourteen NCAA Division One commitments and eight Division Three players.
Mike Laffin earned the USPHL’s Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year Honors after leading the league with 61 assists and 91 total points, while his 30 goals had him tied for third with teammate Conor O’Neil. Patrick Schule tallied 33 goals, placing second in the league. Laffin, Schule, and O’Neil comprised the top three scoring leaders.
Head Coach Toby Harris was voted as the Premier Division’s Coach of the Year.
The 18-and-under team posted an impressive 22-6-1 record, good for second in the Southern Division and third overall. They began the playoffs with a 1-0 loss to the Rochester Jr. Americans, but rebounded with a 5-2 win over the Wilkes Barre/ Scranton Jr. Knights. They then dispatched the Junior Bruins 5-2 before sinking Selects Academy with a 4-3 win in overtime, avenging the previous season’s defeat.
Congratulations to the Jersey Hitmen on last season’s championships.
