Detroit Fighting Irish Rookie forward Dakota Potter put an exclamation mark on an outstanding season by committing to the Lindenwood University Lions. Potter a 1998 forward whom is a high school senior at Girbralter Carlson High School will attend the University near St Louis Missouri beginning September . He led the Irish this season in Goals and total points as well was named USPHL player of the week twice during the 2015-2016 campaign.  The team also voted Potter with Rookie of Year honors which was presented to him at the teams awards banquet on Friday April 22nd in Wyandotte Michigan.

It was clear from Dakota's first game of the season in an Irish Jersey that his time with the lads was not going to be an extended stay as he soon became the subject of nearly every inquiry by Tier II and college scouts.

Dakota is a very special player stated Coach Dan Vasquez in a recent interview with a local newspaper he managed to make his prescence in every on ice situation. He has been a great representative of our organization off the ice and was a key part in our community programs this season. He will truly be missed by the young mite, squirts and pee wees around our arena as usually on any given night you could catch Potter on the ice with one of those teams offering his help to their coaching staffs. He was a pure joy to have as a player and his teammate all felt the same as most referred to him a total team player.

Potter will join former Irish defenceman  Shawn Mott and current line mate Nolan Jakzreski at Lindenwood this fall and continues a string of players from the Irish program whom have worn the Black and Gold Jersey for the top ranked Lindenwood University Lions..

Team owners Lisa and Mark Cruz made the statement that seeing Potter leave is bittersweet as he was such an enjoyable and intricate part of our team however we are beaming with joy that Dakota has been given this opportunity we know that he will continue to be successful.
