USPHL Midget Showcase Puts Top East Coast Talent on Display

The USPHL Philadelphia Midget Showcase wrapped up Monday after a slate of games that showed the teams are gearing up for the playoffs and hoping to end the season on a high note.
 
In the 18-and-under division, the Junior Bruins, CP Dynamo, and PAL Jr. Islanders each returned home after perfect weekends. The Bruins collected wins over the Jersey Hitmen on Saturday and the Syracuse Stars and Jersey Shore Whalers on Sunday.
 
The CP Dynamo knocked off the New Jersey Rockets and Connecticut Jr. Rangers on Saturday before dispatching the Skipjacks Hockey Club on Sunday in a shootout.
 
PAL began with a win over the Islanders Hockey Club on Saturday and rode that momentum to wins over the Springfield Pics and South Shore Kings on Sunday, with the latter coming in overtime.
 
Despite the shootout loss to the CP Dynamo, the Skipjacks still had an excellent weekend, dropping South Shore and Syracuse on Saturday.
 
South Shore also defeated the Rangers in overtime on Sunday.
 
The Hitmen bounced Syracuse on Saturday. Springfield skated past the Rangers on Saturday, and the Islanders Hockey Club prevailed over the Rockets on Sunday.
 
In the 16-and-under division, the Skipjacks Hockey Club left with a 4-0 record after knocking off the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack, Syracuse Stars, South Shore Kings, and CP Dynamo.
 
The Junior Bruins also enjoyed a perfect weekend, starting off with a win over the Jersey Hitmen before defeating the Potomac Patriots and Hartford.
 
In their other contest, the Hitmen won against the CP Dynamo.
 
The PAL Jr. Islanders had an impressive weekend, beating the Rochester Monarchs and Islanders Hockey Club on Saturday and Springfield Pics and Syracuse on Sunday. Monday, however, saw PAL close the tournament by falling to South Shore.
 
The Islanders Hockey Club rebounded from their loss to PAL with a win over Rochester.
 
The Connecticut Jr. Rangers won two hard-fought contests, outlasting Springfield 1-0 and edging South Shore in a shootout on Saturday.
 
After dropping the opening game to the CP Dynamo, the Jersey Shore Whalers reeled off wins over Rochester, Syracuse, and Hartford to take home six points from the weekend.
 
Syracuse picked up a win over Potomac on Saturday. Potomac gained two points against Hartford. Rochester got a “W” on Sunday, and the New Jersey Rockets beat the CP Dynamo in their only appearance of the weekend.
