PAL, who had won the regular season title, clinched their spot in the final with a 3-1 win over the Jersey Hitmen on Friday. The CP Dynamo earned their berth with a win over the New Jersey Rockets.
The 14-and-under Major Premier title marks the third USPHL title in the history of the PAL Jr. Islanders organization. Long considered the powerhouse program on Long Island, PAL youth hockey teams have produced scores of players across the NCAA with many of them continuing into professional hockey. NHL players such as Chris Higgins and Keith Kincaid, as well as 2009 Hobey Baker Award winner Matt Gilroy, have passed through the PAL program on their way to stardom.
With the 14-and-under titles coming just one week after the organization’s 18-and-under championship, it is no secret that the future of hockey on Long Island looks bright as ever.
