The PAL Jr. Islanders are proud to announce that Premier goaltender Michael DePhillips has committed to play and attend school at Arizona State University beginning in the fall of 2017.

DePhillips, ’97, finished the season with a 8-8-1 record with a 3.46 GAA and .916saves-percetnage in 21 games played for the blue and orange.

“Playing at PAL was huge in everything falling into place. It was great waking up every morning knowing I was going to battle with all of my best friends. We would push each other in the gym and on the ice every day. Also, the ownership and the coaching staff did a great job of preparing us and treating us like professionals,” DePhillips said.

DePhillips, a Summit, NJ native, is the eighth Premier player to commit to a NCAA school this season.

“I first spoke to ASU a couple weeks after the season ended. Coach Powers reached out and said they needed a goalie for next season. Once I received the offer it wasn't very hard accepting and fulfilling a life long dream of mine,” he added.

Arizona State competes independently at the NCAA Division I level and is coached by Greg Powers, who is in his third season.

“We are happy for Michael and his family.  He worked extremely hard during his time in here to achieve his dream of playing NCAA hockey.  He will be a very productive college hockey player. We look forward to following Michael as soon as he begins his college hockey career at ASU,” said Head Coach, Dan Marshall.

PAL would like to congratulate Michael and the rest of the DePhillips family on this wonderful accomplishment.
