Stamford, CT (May, 2017) – The Connecticut Jr. Rangers are proud to announce captain Jimmy Poreda has committed to play and attend school at Plattsburgh College (SUNYAC). Jimmy was top 5 in the Premier league in a lot of different categories. He was #1 in minutes played, top 5 in wins, and was 2nd in shots on goal, saves and save percentage. He finishes with 2.95 GAA and 1 shutout.
Poreda, a Tonawanda, NY native, was a 2nd year player for the CT Jr. Rangers. GM/Head Coach Vinnie Montalbano commented, “I couldn’t be happier for Jimmy. He had a lot of interest from other colleges and I think Plattsburgh is a great fit for him. Jimmy was the backbone of our team. He is one of the main reasons we were so successful and beat every team in our league at least once. He was relied upon to keep us in games and singlehandedly won us a lot of those games. Right from training camp Jimmy stepped into a leadership role and was voted captain by his teammates. He is an extremely determined individual with a tremendous future ahead of him. It has been a please coaching Jimmy these past 2 years and I look forward to watching his development as he heads to Plattsburgh - I think he is just scratching the surface of his upside.”
CJR would like to congratulate Jimmy and the rest of the Poreda family on this wonderful accomplishment.
