Congratulations to 1998-born Premier Forward, Chris Stevenson on his recent commitment to Franklin Pierce University for the fall of 2018!

The Northern Cyclones Premier team is proud to announce their 8th college commitment of the 2017-2018 season. Chris “Junior” Stevenson has chosen Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH to continue his hockey career. The 1998-born forward is in his first season with the Northern Cyclones. Before coming to the program, Junior played for the Rocky Mountain Roughriders U18 team in the NAPHL. Last season with the Roughriders Stevenson had a stat line of 9-19-28 in 22 NAPHL games last season.
 
So far this season, Stevenson has logged big minutes for the Cyclones Premier team. He has seen a lot of minutes on special teams and has been expected to produce on a nightly basis. The crafty and very skilled forward finished the regular season with a stat line of 19-21-40 in 44 games, which was good for 2nd on the team in goals, 3rd in assists, and 3rd in points.  If the Cyclones are going to make a run in the playoffs, they will need Junior to be at his best.

When Premier Head Coach Bill Weiand was asked about Chris, he had this to say; “I started recruiting Chris two years ago and this year he decided to give the east coast a chance for more college exposure. Franklin Pierce is getting a very focused, dedicated, and talented young man. I know Chris is going to contribute anyway he is asked to next year.”– Coach Bill Weiand 

Stevenson came to the Cyclones looking to get in front of as many college scouts as possible and he did just that. The Denver, CO native had many options to continue his hockey career at the collegiate level and even though he had a chance to return for his final year of junior hockey, he felt that Franklin Pierce was the place for him and really liked Coach Millerick.

Franklin Pierce is a private university in Rindge, NH and they compete in the NE-10. The hockey team is currently 2-10-1 in the NE-10 and 6-17-1 overall this season. Franklin Pierce will be looking for Chris to have an impact right away and Chris couldn’t be happier. When he was asked about his commitment and time with the Cyclones he had this to say;  

“I’m extremely excited to choose Franklin Pierce University to further my academic and hockey career. I am very thankful to have had this opportunity to play for Coach Weiand and develop my game on and off the ice each and every day. I want to thank Coach Weiand and the Cyclones for helping shape me into the person I am today and getting me to the next level!”

“I want to thank Coach Millerick for the opportunity at Franklin Pierce University. I am excited to be able to study and continuing hockey career as a Raven.”
