Cougars Defenseman Joey Marcuccilli has made his college commitment to ACHA Powerhosue Iowa State University for the Fall of 2018!

Marcuccilli, a graduate of the prestigious Sabres Hockey Club in Illinois, came to the Cougars in 2016-17 spending two seasons in the green and yellow dressing in a total of 66 Games and collecting 22 Points. More than doubling his Point total from his rookie season, Marcuccilli was a force this past year, consistently playing top minutes on the Blueline and a mainstay on the PowerPlay and Penalty Kill for the Cougars. Someone who plays bigger than his size, Marcuccilli came to be known as a guy who can really give a highlight reel hit.

"In his time with us Joey really matured and perfected his game. Obviously coming from a phenomenal program with the Sabres Joey had that competitive spirit in him that really helped him grow here and will be a key part to his game in Ames. I am really proud of what he transformed into here and look forward to watching him play over the next 4 years in college." said Head Coach Brad Stoffers on the commitment.

Iowa State is an ACHA Powerhouse program winning the first ever ACHA National Championship in 1991, since then they have gone on to be the national runner-up 4 more times, most recently in 2015-16 losing to league rival Lindenwood University currently with 2 other Cougars alums on the team! The Cyclones play in the ultra competitive CSCHL with the likes of Lindenwood, Illinois, Ohio, and Robert Morris.
