Thursday the 18’s traveled to Long Island for a rivalry match up with PAL. The only Hitmen regulation goal was scored by Mike Slavik, his first of the year. PAL later tied it up and the score stayed that way until Overtime. TJ Schweighardt got a feed from McLinskey 38 seconds into OT to seal the win. John Werber turned away 18 shots.
Saturday the Hitmen again traveled to the island to play PAL. This match was more of the same with both teams needing overtime and a shootout to decide the contest. Regulation goals scored by Worob and McLinskey which erased a 2 goal deficit. Overtime quickly ended as no team was able to convert on their opportunities. Will Frassetto got the Hitmen going in the shootout, sniping a shot right over the blocker side of Matt Shore. 6 rounds passed with John Werber stopping 5 of the shooters. Brett Schnieder had the shootout winner with a crafty move to beat the goaltender.
Sunday’s finale was an interstate matchup with the NJ Rockets. Hitmen goal scorers were Schweighardt, Attkinson, Carducci and Worob while Kobylansky was superb in net stop all 17 shots he faced as the 18’s went on to win 4-0.
The 18’s will be at the IHC showcase this weekend playing 3 games vs Springfield Pics and the IHC Islanders.
