The Florida Eels announce its 3rd commitment for the 2017-18 season and its 204th player to advance to college. Nick Kotz commits to New England College NCAA Men’s Division III program.

Nick (1997) is from Munster, IN.  He has been with the Eels for 3 seasons as a goalie on the Premier team. He has won player of the week on several occasions.

Nick did his research and really likes the small New England College atmosphere of NEC.  It is located in Henniker, NH about 2 ½ hours north of Boston. From an academic perspective, the school has the major and courses he is interested in so it is a great fit!

NEC plays in the tough NEHC Conference where it competes against some of the toughest teams in NCAA Div. III hockey including Norwich, Hobart, Babson, UMass Boston and others.

From an ice perspective, Nick is thrilled to be able to play for coach Tom Carroll.  Coach Carroll continues to add to his reputation as the most successful coach in New England College hockey history. In15 seasons, he has compiled a record of 213-153-36, including 15 trips to the post season, five trips to the conference championship game and an NCAA Tournament bid and trip to the NCAA Semifinals in 2005.

Prior to NEC Carroll served as head coach and general manager of the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL. Coach Carroll spent several seasons as the top assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame. As a player, he played for the University of Wisconsin. While at Wisconsin his team went to three Frozen Fours including two NCAA Division I National Championship teams.

Kotz is no stranger to hard work. He is often found at the rink 2 hours prior to practice and is one of the most determined and dedicated player on the Eels Premier team. He will bring those intangibles to NEC hockey program and to the college community. Nick comes from a warm and supportive family who have made enormous sacrifices over the past 3 years.

Congrats Nick!
