Former Philadelphia Flyers Junior Hockey Team and Virtua Hockey (formerly Team Comcast) defensemen Richie Brusco has announced his commitment to Neumann University in the Fall of 2017.

While playing with the Philadelphia Flyers Junior Hockey team from 2015-2017, Richie scored 9 goals and scored 34 points throughout two seasons with the team. Richie also earned honors by being selected to play in the USPHL All-Star Game during the 2015-16 season.

Richie also set the USPHL record for fastest goal from the start of the game by scoring five seconds into the game against the Rochester Junior Americans on October 17, 2015. The goal currently still stands as the record and also set a Tier 3 USA Hockey record.

Before playing for the Philadelphia Flyers Junior Hockey team, Richie spent his youth hockey career playing for Virtua Hockey. Richie played over 600 games in the program, and was a steady defensemen for the 18U team .

“I am very proud of Richie and his commitment to Neumann.” said Virtua Hockey 18U Head Coach Jeremy Hall.  “Over his time with Virtua, Richie has proven to be an elite defenseman. Richie offers tremendous vision and offensive capabilities while still being able to shut down opponent's top players. I fully expect this to continue while playing for the Knights over the next four years. I couldn't be more excited for Richie and his accomplishment.”

Congrats to Richie and best of luck in his continuation of a great hockey career!
